Zeb "Buck" Woodell

August 20, 1939 ~ September 9, 2020 (age 81)

Zeb Adrian Woodell, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the home of his sister. He was known by many names, Zeb, Adrian, Woody, Honest Abe, Big A, Daddy O, PopPop, or Papa. But the name he was given at an early age by family was “Buck”.

Buck was born and raised in Pembroke, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeb Vance Woodell and Leona Lowry Woodell. His wife, Linda Kay, preceded him in death on September 29, 2014.

Survivors include his daughters, Diane Woodell Mastrangelo, Bobbie Ann Woodell Chavis, Jacqueline Woodell, Jill Wright Lowery (Ronald), Michelle Wright Fulton (Robert), and Bobbie Jean Wright. His surviving sisters are Maitland Woodell Growe, Wanda Woodell Ferguson (Randall), and Angela Woodell Hawks. Buck also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends.

Buck had a long prayer list. Before the onset of failing health Buck would wake up each morning at 4:00 to read and study the Bible and pray. And his prayers were ”LOUD” ! Family and friends, we have lost our PRAY WARRIOR.

Regardless of your age if you lived in his house, you were expected to be in church when the doors opened. No excuses! Rain, sleet, nor snow & ice would keep Buck away from church. Sometimes he would get to church during inclement weather only to find the church doors locked. Needless to say the Pastor would hear his complaints later.

Buck loved to invite people to church. He was always willing to provide transportation to anyone who wanted to go to church. Favorite ministries were visiting nursing homes, shut-ins, and prisons.

Adventurous day long road trips on Saturday was his favorite past time. If you got in the car with him you knew it would be very late when you got home. He would remind you when he dropped you at the door that the next day was Sunday—Time for Church.

Buck was a complex individual who was willing to help anyone who had a need. He could be quite the jokester. He loved to have fun one minute, and he could “crack the whip” the next minute. We miss him. The circle has been broken once again.
