Our cherished and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and absolute treasure, Loretta Bradshaw Hunt, transitioned from her earthly life into the loving and eternal arms of Christ on Monday, May 9, 2022.
Loretta was born on July 5, 1935 to Evelene Nesbit Teachey Bradshaw and Daniel Hyden Bradshaw in Rose Hill, NC, where she resided until her teens when she relocated to Greensboro, NC. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High and was employed by RJ Reynolds as an Executive Legal Secretary until her early retirement. She was grandmother extraordinaire (G’Ma) to Michael and Josh and an extremely vivacious and creative (“But do you think it’s gaudy enough?!”) character who enjoyed bowling well into her 70s, loved reading - especially mysteries - averaging seven books a week, and was a passionate and dedicated prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Edna Earl Bradshaw McNeill, sons Cary Glenn Wheeler and Bradley Clay Wheeler; and survived by daughter Kim Haley (Gary Myers) of Pleasant Garden, son Joseph Wheeler (Cindy) of Whitsett, grandsons Michael Wheeler (Kim) and Joshua Haley (September Ward) and great-granddaughter Clara Wheeler all of Greensboro; sisters Anne Wrenn of Kernersville, Elaine O’Brien (Bill) of Austin, Texas, brother Daniel (Bud) Bradshaw (Martha) of Coldwater, Mississippi and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank her caregivers and special friends Shirley Stroud, Roslyn Allen and Paris Price. She sure loved you! We would also like to thank Dr. Paige Clark and all of the staff the Cone Hospital Medical ICU for the wonderful and loving care provided during her last days. You all are wonderful blessings, thank you.
A memorial service will be held at Springwood Presbyterian Church in Burlington on Monday, May 16th at 2:00 pm. Pastor Marybeth Asher-Lawson will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall with interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Springwood Presbyterian Church, 1422 Springwood Church Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
