James “Marty” Martin Davis, Sr., age 63, of Sophia passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at High Point Medical Center - Wake Forest Baptist Health after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
Marty was born April 24, 1957 the son of Jimmy Davis and Betty Gill Davis.
Marty was a native of Randolph County and formerly worked as a truck driver and was the best around. He was a graduate of Randleman High school, class of ‘75. Marty loved his family and his grandchildren, Caribbean cruises, playing cards, driving his truck, his family’s farm, and his Mama’s sweet tea.
Marty was preceded in death by his Grandparents: David Martin Davis and Fay Davis Spell, Leonard Lee and Eudie Lee Gill.
Marty is survived by his parents: Jimmy and Betty Davis of Sophia; son: Jamie Davis and wife Tiffany; daughter: Amber Davis Hyler and husband James; brother: Tony Davis and wife Keta; grandchildren: Kash and Piper Davis and Owen Hyler; nieces: Shannon Hamby and Jennifer Motsinger and their families; many cousins and friends, and his ex-wife Janet Davis that remained his very best friend and cruise companion until the end.
Marty was special. There wasn’t a soul around just like him. He had a unique personality and a generous heart. He was always the source of entertainment and kept his family laughing.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Rd, Sophia with John Sides officiating.
