Obituary

Herbert Clifton Jaro II, age 74 passed away in his home under Hospice Care after an extended battle with Lung Cancer on his 74th Birthday, March 12th, 2023.  A native of Forsyth County, Herbert was the son of the late Bernice Johnson Jaro and Herbert Clifton Jaro, born on March 12th, 1949.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his younger sister Vickie Shoemaker. He was a beloved husband to his loving wife of 52 years, Faye Allen Jaro of Summerfield; a wonderful daddy to daughter, Wendy Jaro Burchette (Jonathan) of High Point, and son, Gregory Alexander Jaro of Greensboro; and a generous “Papa” to four grandchildren Ava, Chloe and Jaron Burchette, and Austin Jaro.

Herb, “Jaro” as he was known and loved by many, was a 1971 graduate of North Carolina State University having a degree in Engineering Operations. He met his wife Faye while in college, selling Bibles door-to-door for Southwestern, in Gainesville, Ga in the Summer of 1968. From the moment she answered the door he was captivated and devoted to her for almost 55 years. Herb recently retired from his position from The Home Depot (Brassfield, Greensboro) after 23 years of employment. He was a salesman by profession for his entire career and an expert of many trades and skills; often called upon for his ability to problem solve and fix anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baseball.  Herb particularly loved playing golf at many of the local courses and was known to his golfing friends as the “One Club Man”.  He loved playing with his one adjustable club and was proud of hitting his first “hole-in-one” with it. Herb loved his country and flag and would often be seen proudly wearing his “Red, White and Blue”.  He was a gracious giver of gifts and a collector of whatever sparked his many curiosities. He loved his children and grandchildren immensely and leaves them with a legacy of ingenuity and creativity.  He was genuinely adored and respected for his strong character, wisdom, wit, and attention to detail. He will be greatly missed this side of Heaven.

Herb was a man of simple faith and a believer in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He evidenced his belief against observational science and knew and believed that there was a Creator and that he would be with Him eternally.  His testimony is that of grace, mercy, and a pure belief in a God of small miracles. In his last days he was full of peace and had a secure hope in his tomorrow. Being a man of calculations, precision, and numbers, it was fitting and appropriate that his “dash” was from birthday to birthday.  What better a birthday gift than to be reunited with his family in celebration and to meet his Lord.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
