Ellen Edith Patterson Murphy,71 transitioned from this earthly life on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at her home.  She was born in Greensboro on May 1, 1949 to the late Thomas Alston and the late Alberta Patterson.

Ellen attended Greensboro Public Schools and graduated from the great James B. Dudley High School in 1966.  She worked in manufacturing for 28 years and In-Home Healthcare for several years before she became ill.  She was a faithful member and the Mother of Tabernacle of Meeting, under the leadership of Pastor Russell Miller.  She loved the Lord and did not mind giving Him praise.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children, Norman O. Rankin (Sue), Carla Holman (Rod), Angela Williams (Todd), and Torri Murphy. Six grandchildren, CaNesha Murphy, Shienn Rankin, Norman O. Rankin Jr., Rodrique’ Holman, Essence Holman, and Tiffany Williams.  One great-granddaughter, Avery.  One brother, Charles Rankin (Mary), Three sisters, Renea Stevenson, Carolyn Glover, and Tonya Rawlings. One special cousin Howard Alston Jr. and a host of family and friends.  Preceding her in death were three brothers, Alfred, Bennie Wayne, and Phillip Rankin.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 3:00PM in Tabernacle of Meeting in Greensboro with Pastor Russell Miller officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2PM at the church. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.triadfuneralservice.com

Please note the family has requested attendees follow all guidelines from the CDC and NC State Government. There will not be more than 50 people in attendance including the family. Masks are required to attend the service and social distancing is recommended.
