Charles Wright Lancaster, Jr., 72, of Greensboro, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at Beacon Place, after a hard-fought battle against cancer.
A native of Greensboro, Mr. Lancaster was born October 27, 1950, his mother’s birthday as well, to the late Charles Wright and Pearl Suits Lancaster. Also preceding him were his grandparents Clifton C & Carrie L Beck Lancaster and Charles M & Henrietta A Bryant Suits.
Mr. Lancaster was retired from the City of Greensboro Water Resources Department with 33+ years of service where everyone knew him as Chuck. Charlie, as he was known to family, and Poppy by his grandkids, spent some of his early years living in Florida where he got his license at just 14 and attended college there as well. He enjoyed playing football and baseball during his school years at Ben L Smith High School. Charlie loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, NASCAR racing (#3), and going to the beach and mountains, but above all else, he loved spending time with his family. He would do anything and everything for anyone if he thought you deserved it and put his family before everything else in life.
Mr. Lancaster is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynn Wyrick Lancaster; daughters Tori Lancaster-Malloy and husband Mark of Summerfield and Erin Lancaster of Greensboro; grandchildren, Taylor Lancaster (Damion) of Madison, Jordan Malloy of Summerfield and Riley Massey of Greensboro; one brother, Jerry Kirkman, one sister, Barbara Pantoni; many nieces and nephews; and 5 great grand dogs.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Friday at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service, 2110 Servomation Rd, Greensboro.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Beacon Place for their care and help during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in Mr. Lancaster’s honor.
Arrangements entrusted with Triad Cremation and Funeral Service.
