Maria de Jesus Cordova Robles Hurley, 85, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019.
Born December 13, 1934, in Saltillo, Mexico, Maria was the daughter of Apolinar Cordova Rivera and Maria de Jesus Robles de la Torre.
Maria had been a resident of North Carolina since 2003 lovingly caring for and participating in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Maria loved being a grandmother. It was a time to legitimately take part in all the silly and mischievous behaviors that were frowned upon by polite society. She willingly participated in any game or imaginative pursuit dreamed up by Kailyn, Taylor or Jay and often added ideas of her own.
Maria was retired from having owned many successful businesses in Indiana and prior to that, teaching high school Spanish in Idaho after earning a Master’s Degree at UCLA.
Maria was always quick witted and irreverent, her funny sense of humor and laughter were infectious to all who surrounded her. She loved to travel and generously shared whatever she had with her loved ones.
Maria is survived by her two children, Sandra Cordova and Rick Max; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Gilpin and her husband, Chris Gilpin, Taylor Faires, and Jay Faires; her great granddaughter, Allie Gilpin; and her brother, Samuel Cordova, and her numerous nieces and nephews residing in Mexico and other parts of the world.
Maria will be sorely missed.
In lieu of fresh cut flowers the family request plants, as they were her favorite.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 at 11 AM at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel in Greensboro, NC.
