Kimberly Benson

October 5, 1968 ~ June 2, 2019 (age 50)

Kimberly Jo Millsap Benson, 50 of Greensboro, NC was ushered into heaven peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, June 2nd at Duke University Medical Center after declining health.

She was born to Barbara Branch Millsap October 5th, 1968 in Greensboro.

Kim graduated from Ben L. Smith high school in 1986. She attended UNCG. She worked in Radiology at Wesley Long Community Hospital for 5 years before coming to Greensboro Imaging as a lead scheduler.

She married the love of her life John Benson on August 25th, 1995.

She loved all sports and was a swimmer on the Hillsdale swim team as a teenager. She played soccer for Smith High School.

She loved her family and to shop. She loved the outdoors and was a “True Baseball Mom”. She loved all her baseball boys and they all called her “Mama Kim” affectionately. She loved times spent at the beach with family and friends or at the pool. She also loved the mountains especially Gatlinburg.

Kim was devoted to her family and especially her husband John Benson, of Greensboro, her sunshine Jarrett Benson & wife Mckenzie of Havelock, NC, father in law Don Benson, brother in law Damon Benson and wife Stacy of Boston, Mass; her sister Sherry Sneed of Pleasant Garden, brother Steve Millsap of Florida Godmother JoBeth McKee Greensboro, NC, nephew Ryan Sneed of Pleasant Garden; nieces Brooke Locklear & husband Brandon of Greensboro, Cierra Cotes of Texas, Savannah Benson of Boston, Mass, cousins Angie & Tim Kilby of High Point; Shannon & Scott Lowder of Stokesdale; Desira & Bryce Lowder of Stokesdale.

She was a member of New Covenant Church of Pleasant Garden.

Kim was an organ donor and donated blood for NICU babies through Red Cross for numerous years. She chose to donate to others with Carolina Donor Services.

In addition to her mother, Kim was predeceased by her grandmother Elsie Redfern (Nana), Aunts Donna Cooper, Delores Harrelson, cousin Darrell Alegria and great nieces Miracle & Cora Grace Locklear.

A celebration of life will be held at New Covenant Church, 4708 Alliance Church Road, Pleasant Garden, on Friday, June 7th, with visitation at 6:30 pm and service to follow at 7:00 pm.
