GREENSBORO June Tuck Gordon, 85, went home to her loving Savior on February 1, 2018. Her five children were by her side. She was born on June 19, 1932, to the late Elsie and Hillard Tuck of Lynchburg, VA. She was married to George Hartwell Gordon, Jr. for 58 years until his passing in 2013. June was a gracious, southern lady with a unique Virginian accent. She had a vivacious, youthful personality and was full of life even in her last weeks. She loved hosting parties and planning family gatherings, and had the attitude of a humble servant. She graduated from E.C. Glass High School and attended Lynchburg College. She worked in the Guilford County School System and loved teaching children. She cultivated many lifelong friendships and loved welcoming neighbors into her home for luncheons. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world, and will continue her legacy of love and family. June left behind two brothers: Dr. William Tuck and wife Emily, and Preston Tuck. June's calling was to be the mother to her five children: Valeri Froneberger and husband Ted, Danette Rutherford and husband Mike, Hart Gordon and wife Nancy, Tamara Holt and husband Bill, and Scott Gordon and wife Sarah. June's sixteen grandchildren each had a special relationship with "Memom." Their lives will be interwoven forever: Tyler, Hatcher, Michael, Allison, Emily, Bennett, Lauren, Claire, Mary, Cate, Nan, Claire, Anna, Phillip, Alaina, and Banks. Her six great-grandchildren are Ela, Piper, Ellie, Luke, Ayelee, Breanna, and another one expected this month. After the children started college, June enjoyed painting and gardening. She loved growing flowers, especially roses, and sharing them with friends. She created beautiful arrangements for friends' weddings and for her church. Her sanctuary was her porch, where she watched the finches and hummingbirds each morning. June was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church for 51 years, where she was a member of St. Claire's and Friends of St. Francis. She enjoyed attending Bible studies and prayer meetings there, helped with the annual book sale, and occasionally provided the altar flowers on Sundays. The family would like to thank Beacon Place Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. Floral tributes are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 3506 Lawndale Dr., Greensboro, NC 27408. A celebration of June's life will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church with a reception following.
