Greensboro, NC: Mrs. Edith Mae Powell Cooper, 80, passed away at Moses Cone Hospital on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
A native of Syracuse, New York, Edith was the wife of Brian Michael Cooper and the daughter of John Powell and Elnora Beatrice Shownes Harmon, both deceased. She enjoyed crocheting, painting crafts, baking and loved her church family.
In addition to her husband, Mike of the home, Edith is survived by her daughter, Karen Wright of Greensboro; son, Mark Worden of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Renee Vernon and husband Kevin of Colfax, NC, Thomas Gleason, III of Greensboro, Cristy Welch of Greensboro, Frank Worden and wife, Kate of Florida, Mark Jr. and wife of Statesville and Jessica Worden of Greensboro; eleven great grandchildren, Hanna, Aviana, Josh, Riana, Katie, Jaydon, Charlotte, Audrey, Frankie, Elizabeth, and Mark; two sisters, Joanne Piazza and husband, Richard of Reidsville and Francine Dunn of Liverpool, NY; a host of nieces and nephews; two lifelong friends, Dottie Lodor and Sandy Casaday; and a great-great grandson, Eli, who is on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Vernon Harmon.
A memorial service will be held at Sheraton Park Free Will Baptist Church, 175 E. Sheraton Park Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406 on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
