Renea Roby-Ray, 61, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018. True to form, Renea did it her way and went out on her own terms.
Renea grew up in Washington with her parents and sisters. She graduated from Nursing School in 1976 and had a long successful career as the smartest damn nurse on the face of the Earth. In 1982, Renea gave birth to her daughter Mariah and in 1989 Renea, her best friend Vassie, and their two daughters packed up and moved across the country to Greensboro, NC. In Greensboro, during her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse, Renea worked at Moses Cone and then went on to work for over 20 years at Advanced Home Care.
In 2003, Renea met the love of her life, Teddie, and they were married in 2004. Renea and Teddie enjoyed trips to the beach and loved going on cruises with their dear friends Mary Kay and Mike, and Vassie and Bill.
Renea is survived by her spouse Teddie Ray of Greensboro, daughter Mariah and spouse Ashley Ferguson of Greensboro, sister Donna and spouse Gale Emerson of Vancouver, WA, sister Charla and husband Roger Edwards of High Point, and her step-daughter Lauren Ray and her son Kaidon, of Chicago, IL. Renea is also survived by her life-long friends that she adopted as family, sister Vassie and spouse Bill Cain of Greensboro, daughter Shanna and spouse Alan Buster, and their son Kelly of Greensboro, sister Melody Shelton and her children, Josh, Brandon, and Leslie of Del Norte, CO, and sister Tammy and spouse Leo Hammer of Stanwood, WA.
A celebration of Renea’s life will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 at Triad Cremation Society and Chapel of Greensboro at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors before the celebration at 10:30 am. Please bring your memories of Renea to share during the celebration.
