Rebecca H. Scott, born June 11, 1938 in Nash County, NC, passed away on June 29, 2017 in her home under the care of Hospice of Randolph County. Her death followed an extended period of declining health.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years Ray Scott, her daughter Susan and son-in-law Aaron Banks of Lake Norman, NC, her son John and her daughter-in-law Danielle Scott of Sophia, NC.

Grandchildren: Emma, Nicholas, and Parker Banks, Cooper and Camden Scott.

She also leaves behind loving siblings, Betty Walters of Stone Mountain GA, Mae Ola Medlin of Rocky Mount, NC, Bobby and his wife Janice Hedgepeth of Glen Allen, VA, and several nieces and nephews.

Rebecca loved and was devoted to the Lord, family, and friends. Especially her grandchildren who were a great source of joy to her, just as she was to them.

She was predeceased by parents George A. Hedgepeth and Maggie Ayers Hedgepeth, sister Lucille Carter, brothers Venoy, Raeford,Cecil, Clifton, and Paul Hedgepeth.

Rebecca graduated from Guilford College where she was awarded the honor of membership in Who's Who in colleges and universities, and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.  She later earned an advanced degree in school administration from UNC Greensboro and retired from the Asheboro City and Randolph County schools after 35 years of service.

Being the giving person Rebecca was she chose the Body Donation Program for medical research. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be scheduled at a later date.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Randolph County especially nurses Tara, Lynette, Wendy, the Home Instead Senior Care staff and the devoted caretakers, Nancy Hoskins, Elizabeth Olivarez, and Andrea Morrison for their excellent service to Rebecca and the family throughout her extended illness.
