Midori Ono DobynsOctober 11, 1932 ~ July 26, 2017 (age 84)
Midori Ono Dobyns, 84, a Thomasville, North Carolina resident, formerly a resident of Springfield, Ohio, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and Hospice of Davidson County.
She was preceded in death by her parents of Kyoto, Japan, and her husband Elwood H. Dobyns of Springfield, Ohio.
She is survived by her son Steven E. Crank and wife Mary of Dayton, Ohio, daughter Deborah A.Smith and husband Devin of Trinity, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jonathon Crank and wife Susan, Jeremy Crank, Joshua Crank and wife Mary, Nicolas Donahey and Alicia Ginn, Michael Donahey, Devin S. Smith and Kevin Smith and wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Lila and Chevel Crank, Kensey Donahey, James Crank, and Zeta, Aiden, Brantly and Casen Smith. Also surviving are the children and spouses, the grand and great-grandchildren of her loving husband of 30 years; her brothers, sisters and their spouses; and the nieces and nephews of Japan.
A cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she dedicated her life in caring for others. A native of Japan, as a child she developed her passion for American films and was determined to achieve the english language to fully enjoy the dialog. Fluent in English, she spent her youth education working with U.S. Christian Missionaries as a Japanese American Translator in the reforming of school systems. In her early adulthood she served as a civil servant translator/operator for the United States Air Force. As an American Citizen and homemaker, she spent many years as a volunteer for Northmont, Union Elementary School. Later retired from her 30-year career, where she transported handicapped children for Northmont and Clark County School Systems and also worked as a CNA for Stillwater Hospital and Englewood Manor.
Midori's family would like to extend appreciation for all the heartwarming thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness that has lifted her family during their time of sorrow. Each person is appreciated for touching their lives in a comforting presence.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. and family visitation will be immediately following at 3:00 p. m. both at First Baptist Church of Archdale at 2515 Bellemeade Street in High Point, North Carolina 27263.
