John Kelly Allen, Sr.August 12, 1948 ~ September 4, 2017 (age 69)
John Kelly Allen, Sr. was born on August 12, 1948 to the union of Wilbur Sterling Allen and Helen Walden Allen in Guilford County, NC.
He received his formal education at Randleman High School in Randleman, NC.
He was the owner of Allen’s Land Clearing for 20+ years.
Kelly was a man of many selected words. But you knew how he felt; whether it was good or bad. He was known in his younger days as a bad shortstop player, who could pick a ball up with his bare hands on the run and throw them out. He enjoyed fishing. If you walked around the house there was fishing equipment everywhere, such as, fishing line, worms, and hooks. He had more fishing supplies than clothes. If you wanted to see him he would be at Badin Lake with a Dr. Pepper, pack of nabs, and a cold bologna sandwich with mustard. He also enjoyed playing golf with his son, daughter-in-law, nephews, and friends. He loved telling John & Montez how to take down trees and put dirt in a hole while he sat on the backhoe; chewing tobacco. He enjoyed Susan’s peach cobbler, eating chicken wings, and riding out to see his friends.
He departed this life on September 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Sterling Allen and Helen Walden Allen; and brother, James Wilbur Allen (Bo).
He is survived by wife, Susan L. Allen of Randleman; son, John Allen, Jr (Amma Allen) of Greensboro; daughter, Ashley Montez of Randleman; grandchildren, Ryan and Sara of Greensboro, sisters, Margine Garner (Jimmy) and Mimi Allen of Randleman; brothers, Jerry (Eldora) of Randleman and Anthony Andy (Janet) of Randleman; aunts, nieces, nephews; and cousins.
