Franklin D. Howard, 78, of 6815 Championship Drive, Whisett N.C. Went to be with the Lord at 8:30 pm on September 28, 2017 at Beacon Place with family at his bedside. A celebration of his life will be held Friday October 6, 2017, at 12 noon at Saint Paul Baptist Church, 1309 Larkin St. Greensboro, N.C.  Franklin was born in Sampson County to the late Mrs. Maggie Howard on March 27, 1939. Franklin graduated from Charles E. Perry High School where he played basketball. Then he went to Barber College in Durham, N.C. and  became a licensed barber which he loved. He later on in life worked at Amp where he retired after numerous years. Franklin loved his family and always said “family is important”. He loved attending church, teaching his children how to fish, and cooking, especially baking. Franklin was married to Elaine M. Howard  who proceeded him in his death. He leaves to cherish in his memory six children: Albrey Howard (Twala), Chinita Howard, Choona Howell (Norris), Rodney Douglas (Dionne), Jeffrey Douglas (Kemi) and Kevin Douglas. Also his special sister Maggie Johnson aka “Baby Sis”. Eleven wonderful grandchildren who he loved very much: Roxanne, Tamara, Jenea, Jasmine, Denzel, Essence, Jamelia, Phillip, Corey, Damitriah and Imani. Two Great Grandchildren Malik & Devon. Also he was proceeded in his death by his sisters: Blondine Leak, Mittie Elliott & Geraldine Bush and brothers Willie Boone, Robert Boone, Tony Howard. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Greater Grace Church which can be mailed to 6815 Championship Dr., Whisett, N.C 27377 where a baptism pool will be dedicated in his honor and a plaque will be placed.
